Sawston Village College

Ensuring high quality learning experiences and enrichment opportunities is central to Sawston’s culture of aspiration. A broad and challenging curriculum is supported by a vast array of extra-curricular opportunities, allowing pupils to thrive, enjoy and achieve.

As the lead school for Research and Development in CASSA, Sawston has a strong reputation for practitioner enquiry. As a partner in the SUPER schools partnership with the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge, Sawston supports a range of action research projects and is involved in a collaborative project across the network exploring the conditions required for creating, sustaining and embedding a research culture in schools. Experience in significant research ranges from involvement in National Strategy Assessment for Learning projects, to piloting Research Lesson Study as an intervention tool to close achievement gaps in conjunction with the National College of Teaching and Leadership. The college has also been involved in pioneering new approaches to inclusion, pastoral leadership and family support.

Sawston Village College is an innovative and dynamic school in which reflection, continuous improvement and high quality professional development is integral to the school’s fabric. The opportunity to work alongside colleagues from other institutions through the CASSA Alliance to support system wide improvement is an exciting prospect.
