Bassingbourn Community Primary School
Ofsted, in their 2012 inspection, described us as having ‘An ethos of high quality care which enhances pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and contributes to a feeling of being safe.’
We value a creative and challenging education. A creative curriculum links subjects together as topics and pupils are given many opportunities to reflect on their learning progress and preferred learning style. We provide a social and moral context that helps children to grow into thinking, caring people through the provision of friendship groups, house competitions and sporting, musical and arts events; often alongside local schools. We wish our children to be happy, healthy and learning together.
We are passionate about working in partnership with other schools to promote and share excellent practice; joint initiatives such as the gifted and talented competitions that we organise for schools in the locality (art, maths, science and dance) have been a great success. Although we are a creative, exciting school we ensure that the ‘non-negotiables’ for learning are solidly embedded, and shared with all of the school community. We are a community school, which values the contribution of our PTA, parent forum, Governing body, parents and school council in striving for excellence.
